DESCRIPTION:\nTitle: After the Documents Are Signed: An Heir's Perspective on Family Offices and Reframing Wealth Transfer\n \nDate: Wednesday. September 16, 2026\n \nTime: 12:00pm - 1:00pm\n \nLocation: Missouri Athletic Club Clayton (15th Floor) 7701 Forsyth Blvd., Clayton, MO 63105\n \nSpeaker: Jacqueline Hicks, President & CEO, Bone & Gray\n \nAbout the presentation: "Shirtsleeves to shirtsleeves in three generations" is one of the most quoted maxims in wealth planning, and one that causes legacy families’ legitimate concern. Jacqueline Hicks is a fourth-generation heir to a real estate enterprise -- a surprise inheritance when her mother was named trustee with three weeks' notice. What followed was a decade of hard-won education: liquidity squeezes, discount appraisals, Graegin loans, and the far harder work of teaching an entire family to speak the language of trusts, tenancy-in-common, and succession. Today, that work has grown into Bone & Gray's focus on peer-to-peer stewardship education for multigenerational real estate families. In this session, Hicks shares an heir's perspective: insights from her family's experience, the MIT research that has shaped their thinking, and the patterns she's observed in families like her own — offering estate planning professionals a rare view of what happens after the documents are signed.\n  \n \nContinuing Education for 50 minutes \n \nEPCSTL has requested approval for continuing education in the following areas: CTFA, CLE, CPE, CFP  \n \nCPE Information for CPAs CE in person only! You must answer three of the questions asked to receive credit. \n \nThe sponsor assures that the program content and program level is appropriate for the intended participants.\n \nParticipants will: \n \nCPE Learning Objectives:\n \nUpon completion of this course, you should be able to:\n Identify the governance structures (cadence, protocol, and delegated authority) that support sound family financial decision-making after a wealth transfer Recognize common friction points — liquidity constraints, valuation discounts, and financing tools like Graegin loans — that arise when heirs are unprepared for a transfer Describe how multigenerational families can build capable ownership across multiple family members rather than a single successor Apply lessons from an heir's perspective to better prepare clients and their families for post-transfer governance \nThe sponsor assures that the program content and program level is appropriate for the intended participants.\n \nParticipants will earn 1 CPE credit. \n \nField of Study: Specialized Knowledge \n \nAdditional Information:\n \nDelivery Method: Group Live\n \nProgram Level: Basic\n \nPre-requisite: NONE \n \nAdvanced Preparation: NONE\n \nWho should attend: This session is designed for accountants, CPAs, trust officers, and estate planning professionals who advise multigenerational families — particularly those working with clients holding closely-held business or real estate wealth. A fourth-generation heir, she left a career as a private client equity trader in 2017 to rebuild her family's financial governance. She is a graduate of MIT's Entrepreneurship Development Program and holds a Certificate of Specialization in Finance & Accounting from Harvard Business School Online. Bone & Gray's peer-to-peer stewardship education draws directly on the family's own experience, and the firm is a proud affiliate member of the ABA's Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section.\n \n \n \n \n
