About the Estate Planning Council of St. Louis

Founded in 1959, the Estate Planning Council of St. Louis has a long tradition of bringing together the region’s top professionals in the estate planning field. What began as the Life Insurance & Trust Council—an association of life insurance agents and trust company representatives—quickly expanded in 1960 to include attorneys and certified public accountants. With that growth came a new name: the Estate Planning Council of St. Louis.

The Council was officially incorporated in 1963 as a Missouri not-for-profit corporation. Its bylaws ensure balanced representation from the four core disciplines of estate planning: law, accounting, trust services, and insurance/financial planning. Leadership rotates annually so that each discipline has a seat at the table, fostering collaboration and equal representation.

In 1968, the Council became a member of the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils (NAEPC). Our affiliation—one of the longest in the country—highlights our commitment to excellence and professional growth within a national network.
