Title: After the Documents Are Signed: An Heir's Perspective on Family Offices and Reframing Wealth Transfer
Date: Wednesday. September 16, 2026
Time: 12:00pm - 1:00pm
Location: Missouri Athletic Club Clayton (15th Floor) 7701 Forsyth Blvd., Clayton, MO 63105
Speaker: Jacqueline Hicks, President & CEO, Bone & Gray
About the presentation: "Shirtsleeves to shirtsleeves in three generations" is one of the most quoted maxims in wealth planning, and one that causes legacy families’ legitimate concern. Jacqueline Hicks is a fourth-generation heir to a real estate enterprise -- a surprise inheritance when her mother was named trustee with three weeks' notice. What followed was a decade of hard-won education: liquidity squeezes, discount appraisals, Graegin loans, and the far harder work of teaching an entire family to speak the language of trusts, tenancy-in-common, and succession. Today, that work has grown into Bone & Gray's focus on peer-to-peer stewardship education for multigenerational real estate families. In this session, Hicks shares an heir's perspective: insights from her family's experience, the MIT research that has shaped their thinking, and the patterns she's observed in families like her own — offering estate planning professionals a rare view of what happens after the documents are signed.
